The cast of Left 4 Dead has been added to third-person survival horror game Zombie Army 4 as playable characters in a free update.

The trailer for the update, which features the game's latest mission as well, shows off the four members of the original game in combat. The character pack launched for free alongside the paid Abaddon Asylum DLC, and brought Bill, Francis, Louis and Zoey to Zombie Army 4's roster. This isn't the first time Rebellion Developments' games have featured the zombie hunters, with all eight characters appearing in Zombie Army Trilogy, the precursor to Zombie Army 4. Fans will want to note that only the cast of the first Left 4 Dead game is available, excluding the four playable characters from Left 4 Dead 2.

The Abaddon Asylum DLC added a new map and mission to the game as well. The titular mission is the second of the "Return to Hell" campaign, and sees players hunting down Baron Umbra, the mastermind behind the scenario's occult scheme. While the Left 4 Dead character pack is free, the map and mission are available for $6.99, and adds further content like skins and weapons for fans of the co-op zombie survival game to enjoy.

Developed and published by Rebellion Developments, Zombie Army 4 is out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia and PC. The Left 4 Dead and Abaddon Asylum updates are available now.
