Although there wasn't much speculation to the contrary, Michael Bay has confirmed that actress Nicola Peltz will be his new leading lady in the upcoming Transformers 4.
A fan asked the director on Twitter whether Megan Fox will be returning in the new movie, to which he replied, "No. Female lead has been cast. Bay later clarified that it's "Nicola Peltz." This is the first time Bay has publicly confirmed the involvement of Peltz, best known for her role in The Last Airbender.
Fox might not be in Transformers 4 (she wasn't in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, either) but she will be working with Bay again in the near future. She has been cast as April O'Neil in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot that Bay is producing and Jonathan Leibesman is directing.
Transformers 4 also stars Mark Wahlberg and Jack Reynor as an “Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket.” It’s due in theaters on June 27, 2014. Bay says the film will start a new Transformers trilogy.
“That word has been floating around on the net,” he wrote on his website in January. “This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.”
