Hollywood icon Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski have dedicated the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4 to the memory of the late Lance Reddick.

Reeves and Stahelski addressed the news of Reddick's passing in a statment to Variety. "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick," the pair said. "He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."

Reddick, known for his star-making performance as Baltimore P.D. Lieutenant Cedric Daniels on HBO's The Wire, was found dead in his home early in the morning on March 17. He was 60 years old. The Wire creator David Simon responded to the news by noting that Reddick was "[a] consummate professional, a devoted collaborator, a lovely soul and a friend. This is just gutting and way, way, way too soon for any of us who knew and loved him to contemplate."

Lance Reddick Was a John Wick Staple

Reddick has been a staple of the John Wick franchise since he appeared in the first film as Charon, a concierge at the series' iconic Continental Hotel. Upon the confirmation in July 2021 that Reddick would be returning for the fourth film, Stahelski said, "Lance has been part of the franchise since the very beginning and has had an integral role in shaping the world of John Wick. I couldn't be more excited to be working with him again."

Although John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to be the (potentially temporary) end of the main series, the franchise is slated to expand with the Ana de Armas starring Ballerina, which will take place between the third and fourth films in the main series. A prequel miniseries entitled The Continental, previously in developments for Starz, is also slated to be released through Peacock. The Continental will star Colin Woodell as a young Winston Scott, portrayed by Ian McShane in the films, opposite Mel Gibson in the role of a character known as Cormac. Neither Ballerina nor The Continental currently have a planned release date.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to arrive in theaters on March 24.
