In honor of International Women's Day, an epic fan edit celebrates the badass women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in all their butt-kicking glory.
The minute-long clip, courtesy of the piratesandsuperheros' YouTube channel, also includes Captain Marvel's Brie Larson to commemorate the film's opening today. The video also covers those involved in the last ten years of MCU history, from Pepper Potts, Black Widow, Gamora, the Wasp, the Ancient One, Mantis, Peggy and Sharon Carter, Nebula, Maria Hill, Shuri, the Dora Milaje, Jane Foster and Valkyrie, among the many heroes.
The villains get their due in the limelight as well, with focus placed on characters like Hela and Ghost, who have certainly given members of Earth's Mightiest Heroes a run for their money in their respective solo outings. The track "Wicked Ones" from singer Dorothy is used as the music backdrop for the video, further proving these women aren't to be messed with.
The video's action-oriented aesthetic definitely works with International Women's Day theme of #BalanceForBetter, reminding us how these assertive women have helped shape Marvel Studios' vision since 2008's Iron Man.
Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck from a script they wrote with Liz Flahive, Carly Mensch, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Jude Law as the commander of Starforce, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Djimon Hounsou as Korath the Pursuer, Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva, Ben Mendelsohn as Talos, Lashana Lynch as Maria Rambeau, Algenis Perez Soto as Att-Lass, McKenna Grace as a young Carol Danvers and Annette Bening as Mar-Vell/the Supreme Intelligence.
