"One of our most frequently requested titles, Labyrinth enjoys a huge and devoted fan base," Fathom Events Vice President of Studio Relations Tom Lucas said. "We are pleased to bring this fan-favorite from The Jim Henson Company to cinemas nationwide, and especially so for its 35th anniversary."

Directed by Henson and executive produced by George Lucas, Labyrinth centers on a 16-year-old girl named Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) and her journey to rescue her baby brother Toby from an elaborate maze under the control of Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie). At the time of its release, the film was met with middling reviews and only grossed just over half of its $25 million budget. However, it's since become a cult classic.

In 2016, Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer Nicole Perlman was brought on to pen the script for a Labyrinth sequel, which was to be directed by Fede Álvarez. In 2018, Álvarez said there was already a draft of the script completed, though it appears the studio started over with Maggie Levin when Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson was tapped to helm the project.
