Legendary Marvel Comics co-creator Stan Lee has been given the highest honor by the City of Los Angeles, as the city proclaimed October 28 Stan Lee Day. The day was established in order to recognize Lee for his decades-long contributions to the city’s entertainment industry.

In addition to this honor, Stan Lee's Comikaze Expo -- Lee's annual comic convention -- was also given a new name: Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con. The convention celebrates its sixth year at the Los Angeles Convention Center during October 28 - 30.

Regarding the convention name change Lee said, "We want to have the most glamorous and sought-after guests possible in the entertainment field, because after all, Los Angeles to me is the home of entertainment — this is where it all starts. "
