Kyoto Animation released detailed instructions on how to recreate the hairstyle of Violet Evergarden's main protagonist, Violet.The instructions were shown on the official Twitter account for the series and provide step-by-step instructions on how to recreate Violet's unique hairdo. Step 1 on the top left shows Violet's hair before any braiding is done. Step 2 shows how to form a half braid on either side of the head, starting near the top and gradually working the braid down behind the ears. Once you reach the base of your head, stop braiding, gather your remaining hair into twin tails and tie them off with hair ties. Step 3 shows how to braid the twin tails. Step 4 explains how to roll the braids up at the back of your head, clockwise for the left and counterclockwise for the right braid. Step 5 illustrates how to pin the two rolled braids in place with four U-shaped hairpins. Kyoto Animation is a Japanese animation studio and light novel publisher based out of Uji in the Kyoto Prefecture. Founded by Yoko and Hideaki Hatta in 1981 the studio is famous for works such as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Clannad, K-On!, Free!, Sound! Euphonium, A Silent Voice, and Violet Evergarden.

Violet Evergarden was originally a Japanese light novel series written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase. It was first published by Kyoto Animation in December 2015 under its KA Esuma Bunko imprint. The series has since been adapted into a 13-episode anime produced by Kyoto Animation, which first aired in January 2018. The story follows a woman named Violet Evergarden, as she starts a new life after a falling out with her guardian family. It is then she witnesses the work of an "Auto Memory Doll," amanuensis that transcribe people's thoughts and feelings into words on paper. Moved by this, Violet begins work as an Auto Memory Doll herself, a decision that will change her life, as well as the lives of those around her.

The Violet Evergarden anime series and its follow-up movies are available for streaming on Netflix.
