Lucasfilm has revealed the first image of Kylo Ren’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi starship, the TIE Silencer, along with additional information on the vessel that draws inspiration from Darth Vader’s own TIE Advanced X1. While most TIE fighters in the Star Wars franchise sport long panels on either side of the pilot’s circular cockpit, it seems that the First Order has seen some technical advancements since Skywalker father and son hashed it out in that infamous trench run.
Ren’s new ship is much sleeker than its blocky counterparts, the panels replaced by two long, fanglike wings on either side of the ship, ending in sharp points that look like they could do serious damage.
“Ren is an expert pilot — thanks to skills passed down from his father — which he puts to use in exploiting his ship’s speed and ferocity,” the description of the ship reads. “There is no other First Order craft like the TIE Silencer, and it is an effective tool in Ren’s mission to destroy the Resistance.”
Debuting in theaters on December 15, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a production of Lucasfilm directed by Rian Johnson and starring Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran.
