Kyle Baker returns to Jim Hanley's Universe

JIM HANLEY'S UNIVERSE, New York's premier comic book retailer, is proud to announce the return of Eisner Award winning cartoonist, KYLE BAKER, to their Manhattan location on Wednesday, September 3. Mr. Baker will be signing his latest graphic novel NAT TURNER at the Manhattan location from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Kyle Baker was born in Queens, NY, and after starting out as an intern at Marvel Comics, went on to create his own graphic novels, most notably, Why I Hate Saturn, Birth of a Nation, and The Cowboy Wally Show. His work on DC Comics' Plastic Man earned two separate Eisner Awards for Best New Series in 2004 and Best Title for Younger Readers in 2005. Baker has won a total of eight Eisner Awards and five Harvey Awards.

NAT TURNER is Baker's latest graphic novel which is a true story based on an American slave who started the largest slave rebellion in the antebellum southern United States. The book has received rave reviews from Entertainment Weekly ("It's a hauntingly beautiful historical spotlight. Grade: A-,"), the Washington Post ("Intricately expressive faces and trenchant dramatic pacing evoke the diabolic slave trade's real horrors."), and many others.
