The series follows Tetsuya Kuroko and Seirin High as they compete to defeat the Generation of Miracles, whom Kuroko was teammates with during middle school. Though the anime is about basketball, the characters actually carry the show.

Aomine is the ace of the Generation of Miracles. Before his skills took off, Aomine was friendly and welcoming. However, upon consistently winning against weaker opponents, he became disillusioned from the sport and wanted to find an equal opponent again.

He concluded that the only person who can beat him is himself. After seeing his teammates from Teiko become disillusioned with the game, he resolved to force the Generation Of Miracles to recognize his style of basketball and defeat them one at a time.

Kuroko is a fan favorite because, aside from being the protagonist, fans enjoy seeing how he interacts with his current team at Seirin and how he reinvigorates his former teammates' love of basketball. He even joined Seiren's basketball team in order to reignite his former teammates' passion for the game.
