Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti's reboot of Kung Fu will be headed to CW, but the status of Green Arrow and the Canaries is still undetermined.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CW has ordered Berlanti's reboot of the '70s TV series Kung Fu to series, along with CBS TV Studios' Republic of Sara. While the pilots on both of those shows were not completed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the network is said to be happy with their scripts. They'll join fellow new shows Superman & Lois and Walker on the network. However, the future of Green Arrow and the Canaries, as well as a prequel to The 100, have not yet been determined.
Created by Ed Spielman, Kung Fu premiered in 1972 and starred David Carradine as a Shaolin monk travelling through the Old West in search of his half brother, Danny. The reboot, which is penned by Christina M Kim, will star Olivia Liang as a young college dropout who journeys to a monastery in China. When she returns, she'll be looking to bring the criminals in her hometown to justice while also looking for the person who murdered her mentor. Christina M.
Green Arrow and the Canaries is a spinoff of Arrow, which ended earlier this year after eight seasons. The series, which received a backdoor pilot in Arrow Season 8, stars Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak, the daughter of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak. The show is slated to include such Arrow alums as Katie Cassidy (Laurel Lance) and Juliana Harkavy (Dinah Drake).
