SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "The Alpha and the Omega," the Krypton Season 2 finale.

Darkseid is coming. In "The Alpha and the Omega," Krypton's Season 2 finale, Nyssa-Vex started her galaxy-spanning journey to save her son Jor-El, only to end up on a planet that had just been ravaged by parademons.

When the episode picked up, Adam Strange was still coming to terms with his paralysis. Nyssa attempted to soothe his anxieties with kind words. However, as he offered some more information about himself in return, she realized the opportunity this situation afforded her. She asked him to describe where his zeta beam came from and how it worked. Then, as the drugs kicked in and he nodded off, she took the zeta beam for herself.

Adam awoke to find Nyssa standing by the window, holding the zeta beam and gazing into space. "Nyssa," he began, nervousness creeping into his voice. "Careful with that. Press the wrong thing, and who knows where you might end up."

"Like Rann, for instance?" she asked. "I'm going to find Sardath."

"No, no, no. You can't!" Adam protested. He called for Val-El, who came running.

"Wegthor is gone, and along with it, so is Krypton's entire stellarium supply. The zeta beam can transport me across the universe, to wherever Brainiac has my son," she explained.

"Nyssa, you don't even know how to use that thing. The landing alone could --" Adam started, but Nyssa interjected, saying, "You already told me everything I need to know about it."

"You played me?" Adam realized with horror.

"I had to," Nyssa insisted. "Brainiac is still out there somewhere, and I cannot rest until I find him. I can't wait any longer... There is no other way. Tell Seg I'm sorry." With that, she activated the zeta beam, disappearing from the room as Adam cried out in frustration.

Nyssa reappeared on a beach, a stark contrast to the icy wastelands of Kandor City. She sighed, observed her surroundings and said, "That wasn't so bad. Alright, Adam. Let's hope you know what you're talking about." With that, she set off in search of Sardath, in the hopes he would help her find Jor-El.

However, Sardath wasn't the first person she encountered. She strolled along the beach, turned a corner and found herself face-to-face with a platoon of soldiers -- or what was left of them, anyway. Covering her nose to protect herself from the stench of burning flesh, she took in the sight of charred, smoking corpses.

Soon, she noticed a survivor, who struggled to reach her. "What do you need?" she asked, approaching cautiously. "Please let me help you." She asked where she was and if she had reached Rann, but the man was too badly wounded to form words. Instead, he only pointed up. Puzzled, Nyssa looked up and saw nothing as the man died from his extensive injuries with a gasp.

Nyssa took the man's gun and continued her journey up the beach, when she noticed a marking on a cliff face. She walked up for a better look, only to find a red omega symbol on the rock. When she touched it, she realized it was still fresh. She turned to run, but paused and looked up as dozens of shadows drifted by her. In the sky, she saw dozens of parademons on the move.

While Darkseid himself never showed up, the signs are clear. For one, the major DC villain has long been associated with the omega symbol, as it appeared on the beaches of Rann. Indeed, one of Darkseid's powers is called the Omega Beam, a powerful bio-electric blast he can fire from his eyes.

For another, parademons -- locust-like creatures armed with wings and body armor -- are Darkseid's personal army. Darkseid himself created them to be his soldiers. If parademons have come to Rann, Darkseid can't be very far behind. Considering Darkseid is a universe-ending threat, Seg and his fellow Kryptonians will have their hands full in Season 3, should the series be renewed by Syfy.

Krypton stars Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El, Shaun Sipos as Adam Strange, Georgina Campbell as Lyta-Zod, Elliot Cowan as Daron-Vex, Ann Ogbomo as Jayna-Zod, Rasmus Hardiker as Kem, Wallis Day as Nyssa-Vex, Aaron Pierre as Dev-Em, Ian McElhinney as Val-El and Blake Ritson as Brainiac.
