"Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell has boarded the Warner Bros. comedy "CHiPs," written and directed by her husband Dax Shepard," TheWrap reports.

The adaptation of the hit 1970s television series, about a pair of motorcycle-riding cops in the California Highway Patrol, stars Shepard and Michael Pena in the roles originated by Larry Wilcox and Eric Estrada. Adam Brody, Rosa Salazar and Vincent D’Onofrio are also part of the film's cast.

The film is said be heavy on the action and the buddy-cop elements, a la "Lethal Weapon," with D'Onofrio playing a ruthless ex-cop who leads a ring of exotic car thieves.
