The classic Spider-Man villain was originally eyed to appear in the abandoned follow-up to The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Now the studio has plans to have Kraven exist within its new cinematic universe that begins in October with Venom. There's word yet about what comic book source material may inspire the script.

In the comics, Kraven is a big-game hunter obsessed with defeating Spider-Man. In the critically acclaimed story "Kraven's Last Hunt," Sergei finally proved to himself that he was "superior" to the hero, and then took his own life. He was later resurrected by his family in the story "Grim Hunt."

Whether the wall-crawler will play any kind of role in Kraven is unknown, but at this point Spider-Man exists firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with no expressed plans for crossovers. That said, Kraven is no stranger to hunting symbiotes. The villain has taken on Eddie Brock's version of Venom, as well as Flash Thompson's Agent Venom. Even one of Kraven's sons (briefly) battled Eddie Brock.
