Konosuba is one of the more notable comedy anime of the past few years. It stars Kazuma Sato, a nerdy recluse who dies embarrassingly and finds himself thrust into his very own Isekai adventure. It has stood out for its quirky main cast, from its easily-exhausted, explosion-casting wizard to its pain-loving, masochist crusader.

Whether its Kazuma's devilish plans or the antics that the rest of his crew get up to, the interactions between the characters are a definite high point of the show. There is, however, more to this show than meets the eye. Namely, the many funny supporting characters. Some of them appear more often than others, but they're all part of the rich world of Konosuba.

10 Verdia

Verdia is one of the demon king's generals, appearing in the form of an armored headless knight riding on a headless horse. He is known as a Dullahan, a type of fairy based out of Irish mythology, that typically takes this appearance.

Though our heroes eventually defeat him, we also get to learn a bit about him later on. Mainly that he's a bit of creep. A perk of being undead is that he can carry his head beside him and he is known to Wiz for rolling his head under her skirt whenever he got the chance.  This perverted streak is a funny offset to his intimidating appearance and knightly manner.

9 Vanir

vanir konosuba

Vanir is another of the generals of the demon king's army, at least at first. He's significantly tougher than Verdia with powers ranging from divination to mind-reading. He's also a likable troll who enjoys feeding off the negative energy of those around him and doesn't like hurting humans.

It's not hard to find him hilarious from the get-go as he takes over Darkness only to find that she enjoys it much more than anticipated. And his entire evil plan to trick adventurers into opening a treasure chest with no loot inside is essentially a big prank.

8 Chris

Chris is a thief and one of Darkness's friends. Her cute character design matches well with her mischievous personality. She's an earnest and likable character on her own, which serves to make Kazuma's interactions with her even funnier.

She first appears while Kazuma is thinking of a new skill to learn, offering thief training for a low cost. This backfires when he uses it to steal her panties, swinging them around in the air while she screams in embarrassment. In season two we're treated to a repeat of this event, only in a much more crowded place and with a perfectly animated finger waggle from Kazuma.

7 Wiz

Wiz is one of the more important supporting characters, showing up multiple times throughout the show. Like Vanir, she is a demon king general who becomes a store-owner, though as an immortal lich she specializes in magic.

She also gets into awkward situations with Kazuma (as do so many of the characters in Konosuba). Whether its a misinterpretation of her "sucking it out," as an innuendo rather than her life draining ability, or her becoming a lap pillow for Kazuma, her innocent and timid nature is a perfect foil to Kazuma's misconduct.

6 Yunyun

yunyun konosuba

Yunyun is the daughter of the Crimson Demons' leader, hailing from the same clan as Megumin. She first shows up using a powerful burst of magic to save Kazuma and his party from a group of toads that is midway through devouring them.

She then announces herself as Megumin's rival, but to her dismay, Megumin doesn't seem quite as passionate about their conflict. Her back-and-forth with Megumin serves as fodder for a lot of humor from a slimy fistfight to being the victim of lots of bullying. You can't help but feel bad for her while laughing all the same.

5 Hans

Hans is another dangerous member of the demon king's army, acting as one of its generals. He's a Deadly Poison Slime with magic abilities who uses his powers to contaminate the water of the hot springs town of Arcanretia.

When confronted by Kazuma and his friends, he throws himself into a spiel selling the benefits of the hot springs and reacts hilariously when Wiz seems to figure out his real identity. Mainly, he tries to deny knowing her while repeatedly turning his face away. This doesn't quite work and we're treated to a funny scene where everyone repeats his name, Hans.

4 Eris

Eris is another goddess just like Aqua. Aqua controls water, while Eris is the goddess of fortune. That shared divinity, however, is as far as their similarities extend. Where Aqua is crass and lazy, Eris is polite and kind. She's also the one that shows up in the afterlife of Konosuba's world to give people a second chance.

She's the funniest when played against Aqua, who is jealous of her sizable following and status, with Eris even being the name of the currency in their universe. Aqua's bitterness plays out in an especially entertaining way when she reveals that her junior goddess is wearing breast pads.

3 Kyouya Mitsurugi

kyouya from konosuba

Kyouya Mitsurugi is like Kazuma in that he's another adventurer who originally came from Earth. In every other way, he's the antithesis of Kazuma, acting as a cliche good guy character where our real main character is anything but.

He also came to the fantasy world with a powerful weapon and has made a name for himself as an adventurer. Despite all these superficially cool traits, in reality, Kyouya ends up being generic and annoying. Moreover, he comes off as an amusing self-righteous narcissist, which is a great twist on the standard hero trope.

2 Sena

Sena is a royal prosector who shows up in town after one of Kazuma's particularly calamitous adventures destroys a noble's home. She's a no-nonsense character who takes her job seriously. She's also very suspicious of our main characters. Her serious demeanor strongly contrasts the lackadaisical nature of our protagonists.

Naturally, hijinks ensue when their strong personalities play off hers, as they desperately try to clear Kazuma's somewhat reputable name of wrongdoing. This ranges from airing out his dirty misdeeds to begging for forgiveness to abandoning him all while the straight-faced Sena looks on.

1 Ruffian

Ruffian is the nickname granted to this unnamed character that appears in the anime. He sports a mohawk and an intense-looking set of gear and is often found in the adventurer's guild of Axel. He looks intimidating but he turns out to be a pretty nice guy that always has small things to say, whether it's a "Welcome to the gates of hell," at the succubus dream shop or a positive comment at an after-fight celebration.

This character can be funny on his own but the true humor is because he's such a minor piece that keeps showing up again and again. He also turns out to be an artisan weaver and not an adventurer despite his tough exterior, much to Kazuma's surprise.
