Darkness is one of the most loved characters among the fans for her beauty and her stoic nature which sees her stand in front of danger with open arms, among many other things. However, there is more to Dustiness Ford Lalatina than just that. Here are 10 facts that you probably didn't know about Darkness.

10 Party Member Number

Darkness was a crusader looking for a party to join during her introduction in the second episode of the KonoSuba anime. Therefore, Darkness is actually the last member of Kazuma's party, despite becoming one of the most significant ones in the story later on.

With Aqua being a member right from the very beginning, and Megumin being the first one to officially join the party, Darkness takes the second rank when it comes to the joining order. Nonetheless, her skills are second to none in the party, as she's shown time and again in the KonoSuba series.

9 Her Age

Darkness from Konosuba

As evident from her appearance, Darkness is the oldest member of Kazuma's party. When she joins the party, she's around 18 years of age, with a year having passed since then, Darkness is now 19 years old. In the web novel, Darkness is 22 years of age.

Megumin is the youngest one in the party, followed by Kazuma. Aqua, being a goddess doesn't exactly follow the same rules as the rest of the members of the party when it comes to age, although she does claim to be a bit older than Kazuma.

8 Her Manners

Since Darkness is the oldest in the group, she also seems to be the most polite one at face. Being a noble, she always tends to present herself with honor and pride. Being a crusader, she proclaims that it is her duty to defend her party members from any sort of harm, even if it meant that she has to put her body on the line.

In reality, Darkness is a masochist who derives pleasure at the thought of being dominated by a stronger presence, which is why she puts her body on the line at any chance that she gets.

7 Her Duties

Although Darkness is a masochist who doesn't waste even a single opportunity where she can throw her body to 'defend' those around her, a part of her really does value everyone in the party, and thus, feels an obligation to defend them no matter what.

This is also a result of her being the oldest one in the party. As such, she believes that it is her responsibility to defend her friends, and doubly so because she's a crusader. Most of the time, she gets the job done even through the most unconventional methods.

6 Her Motivation

Darkness may appear to be noble on the outside, but her masochistic nature sees to it that her motivation for being a crusader was anything but noble. With time, Darkness becomes more open to the point where she admits that the only reason why she even became a crusader in the first place was so that she could get sexually punished by the Demon King.

What's more, one of her dreams for the future is to marry a man who is an abusive alcoholic. She wants her husband to force her into selling her body in order to earn a living. Upon seeing her true nature, most of the party gets uncomfortable.

5 Her Skills

Darkness' training has seen to it that she possesses incredible strength and stamina. This, when combined with her ability to wield a sword makes her...useless. That's right! Darkness's skills with a sword are awful. Even though she possesses incredible strength, she is never able to intentionally hit the target with her sword, making her useless in battle.

According to Kazuma, the only thing that Darkness is good for is using her body as a shield for the others, which incidentally works out for both the party members, who need protection, and Darkness who derives pleasure from being hit with sharp blows.

4 The Humiliation She Hates

Darkness may enjoy being humiliated and hit, but not everything gets a pass when it comes to things that make her feel embarrassed. When called by her real name, Darkness gets irritated very easily. This is likely the only kind of humiliation that she isn't ready to face, no matter the cost.

Consequently, she doesn't ever introduce herself as Dustiness Ford Lalatina. Instead, she goes with Darkness. This has led some people to believe that her real name is Darkness, as evident when some were shocked to find out that her real name is Lalatina.

3 Her Cult

Darkness may not appear to be a devout person, but she has completely devoted herself to serving the Eris Cult. As a result of this, she dislikes dealing with demons and the undead since Eris has no love for them either. When in presence of demons, Darkness makes sure that no harm comes to those around her, and she does it by, you guessed it, putting her body on the line, once again.

Funnily enough, at Alcanretia, Darkness got a lot of hate for being a follower of the Eris Cult by the Axis Cult members. In fact, they even resorted to stoning her to death, but little did they know that it was only turning her on.

2 Her intelligence

Darkness is one of the most intelligent members of Kazuma's party. Her upbringing in a noble family sees to it that she knows her fill about threats such as the monsters out there. Surprisingly, she knows nearly all there is to know about all of them. However, her strategies to defeat them are, more often than not, useless.

She often wants the party to engage in fights with strong opponents because of her masochistic nature. More often than not, the party seems to ignore what she has to say because they realize that the threat they face is simply out of their league.

1 Toughest Body

Darkness is known to be a sturdy figure in battle and she is often seen leading the charge when in battle. Surprisingly, according to Kazuma Satou, Darkness could possibly possess the highest durability in the entire kingdom. This is further backed up by the fact that she has tanked quite a lot of damage in the KonoSuba series already.

Some of her biggest durability feats include being able to withstand attacks from Hydra in the second season of the KonoSuba anime, and taking one of Megumin's strongest explosion directly, which left her in a near-dead state.
