As the release date for the new "Kong: Skull Island" nears, we’ve yet to see the legendary ape do much besides look very menacing and toss a palm tree or two at hovering helicopters. That all changes, as a newly released clip released showcases the iconic ape taking some frustration out against a Skull Crawler.

The clscenep doesn’t offer much in terms of story; Captain James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) and some crew members are seen running from a Skull Crawler before King Kong jumps into battle, rock in hand, to attack the beast. What follows is some solid monster fighting action that should get fans revved up for the film's arrival.

Set in the 1970s, “Kong: Skull Island” centers on a team of soldiers and explorers who venture into a mysterious island in the Pacific Ocean that’s home to not only the mythic Kong, but also myriad other monsters. The film, directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, boasts the largest version of King Kong to ever be depicted on screen.

Opening March 10, 2017, “Kong: Skull Island” stars Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Brie Larson, Jing Tian, Toby Kebbell, John Ortiz, Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, Shea Whigham, Thomas Mann, Terry Notary and John C. Reilly.
