Koala Man, a new animated series from the creators of Solar Opposites and Rick and Morty, is coming soon to Hulu.

Developed by Michael Cusack, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, Koala Man is an adult animated series that centers on a suburban Australian man who spends his days as your regular family man, but moonlights as the titular crime-fighting superhero vigilante.

The official synopsis for Koala Man reads,

"An animated family comedy where the patriarch lives a not-so-secret identity of Koala Man, an Australian suburban superhero with no powers but a burning passion to snuff out petty crime and bring order to the community."

Hulu has ordered eight episodes of the family comedy, which will feature Cusack as the voice of Koala Man. Cusack first gained recognition for his Damo & Darren YouTube videos, and later created the Rick and Morty April Fool's special Bushworld Adventures, which aired on Adult Swim. He also debuted his first series -- YOLO: Crystal Fantasy -- on Adult Swim and HBO Max in 2020. Hernandez and Samit will serve as showrunners on Koala Man. The pair have previously worked together on shows like The Tick, Central Park, One Day at a Time and Ultra Violet and Blue Demon.

The new series also marks a continuation of Hulu's relationship with Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and 20th Television Animation, who are behind Hulu's hit adult animated Original series Solar Opposites. The series debuted in May 2020 and became the streaming platform’s most-watched Hulu Original comedy premiere of the year. Solar Opposites returns for a second season on March 26. Hulu's current Original animated series lineup also includes Crossing Swords, as well as the upcoming Marvel series M.O.D.O.K and Hit Monkey.

Seasons 1-4 of Adult Swim's Rick and Morty are available to stream on Hulu and HBO Max. While a premiere date for Season 5 has yet to be confirmed, writer Alex Rubens hinted in February that they already started writing Season 7. "Am I allowed to say we started writing Rick and Morty Season 7?" He stated at the time on Twitter, adding, "(If not we didn’t and I’m not)."

Rick and Morty co-creator Harmon seemingly confirmed Season 7 during a panel at the Adult Swim Festival, noting, "I think we're working on Season 7 right now, I can't even keep track. I wouldn't know if I were spoiling Season 5 or Season 6."
