Audiences were recently given a glimpse at director Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2019 whodunit film.

Netflix released a trailer previewing many of its upcoming movies in 2022. One of which was Knives Out 2, the murder-mystery sequel starring James Bond's Daniel Craig. In the brief clip, the camera pans over the glistening coastline of a Mediterranean city. It then cuts to Craig, who looks to be boarding a yacht along with the rest of the main cast.

While the Knives Out sequel's plot fittingly remains a mystery, the upcoming film boasts an exciting new ensemble cast, featuring the likes of Guardian of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista, One Night in Miami's Leslie Odom Jr and Outer Banks' Madelyn Cline. Also involved is The Matrix Resurrections' Jessica Henwick, who convinced director Rian Johnson to include her after he cut her out of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Bautista has promised plenty of colorful performances in the upcoming movie, which he believes will make Knives Out 2 even better than the first. In a previous interview, the actor stated, "I'm always afraid to say that because I don't want anybody to get offended saying that we're going to be better, but I really do think this. I think the characters are just so much more colorful. I think people are really going to dig this."

Knives Out stars Craig as private detective Benoit Blanc. The original film followed the PI as he investigated the murder of Harlan Thrombey, a wealthy novelist. Blanc soon discovers Thrombey's strained relationships with his family, leaving everyone as suspects in his murder. With the family all vying for Thrombey's inheritance, Blanc must navigate their web of lies to uncover the truth.

Featuring a high-profile cast that includes Chris Evans, Ana de Armas and Jamie Lee Curtis, Knives Out was well-received by critics and grossed over $300 million at the box office. Following its success, Netflix caused a stir when the streaming giant acquired the franchise for $450 million in 2021 and secured the rights to two sequels, which will reunite Johnson with Craig.

Netflix plans to release Knives Out 2 in the last quarter of 2022, though an exact release date has not been announced.
