Netflix has waded into the holiday movie market in recent years, through films such as Christmas Inheritance and A Christmas Prince. This holiday season, the streaming service is set to release its first original animated holiday movie, a reimagining of the origin of Santa titled Klaus.

The film sees Jesper, "the postal academy's worst student," team up with "a mysterious carpenter who lives alone in a cabin full of handmade toys" to bring joy to the children of a local town. As they try to bring happiness to the citizens of Smeerensburg, their trials and tribulation give rise to the legend of the jolly toy maker we now call Santa Claus.

As with the studio's live action films, Klaus features some big name stars. Jason Schwartzman provides Jesper's voice, while acclaimed actor and J. Jonah Jameson avatar J.K. Simmons voices the titular character. Parks and Recreation alum Rashida Jones contributes the voice of Alva, a local teacher who becomes Jesper and Klaus' ally.
