Ever since she made her first memorable appearance in Uncanny X-Men #129, Katherine Anne "Kitty" Pryde has proven about 10 times that she is definitely the X-Men's most powerful character. Co-created by the creative team-up of John Byrne and Chris Claremont, Kitty has proven that she is more than just her amazing mutant ability of phasing through walls. Her most powerful moments in comic book history have always been made in tune to the potential she always carried with her. After going through a vast array of super heroine costumes and names, Pryde continues to demonstrate to many readers that she will always be unflinchingly rebellious, brutally honest, and incredibly passionate.

At the crucial and tender age of 13, Kitty accidentally discovered she had an incredible gift, which could turn into a frightening curse at the same time. When she is in control, Kitty's mutant power allows her to pass through solid matter. Rather than use this uncanny ability to break into vaults and rob banks, Pryde decided to visit Westchester, New York and attend Professor Charles Xavier's school for gifted youngsters. Just as her powers continued to evolve, Kitty's character arc gradually progressed and made her into a prominent member of the mutant superhero team.

10 She Kills Wolverine

From the pages of What If, in Wolverine: Enemy of the State, Logan has become an unstoppable killing machine hunting down the Marvel superheroes. The list of heroes was decimated now that the super-villain organization, known as The Hand, had taken control of Wolverine. There are only a few heroes left alive but are afraid to fight the mind-controlled killer. Because she is the only one who can stop him, Kitty manages to phase her hand straight into Wolverine's head. During her fatal attack, Kitty solidifies her hand, striking at Logan's brain, and kills him instantly.

9 She Lives In The Age of Apocalypse

After Legion, aka David Haller, traveled backwards to the past and accidentally killed his own father, Charles Xavier, the timeline was reset in "Age of Apocalypse." When the mutant super-villain known as Apocalypse took over the entire world, Kitty managed to survive under the cruelest circumstances.

In this alternate version, Kitty has shorter hair, wears tighter and more revealing clothing, and always has a cigarette in hand. Pryde is harsh towards others and refuses to get close to anyone, even to her own husband, Colossus. Trained by Weapon X to become a deadly assassin, Shadowcat fights and kills with her set of retractable artificial claws.

8 She Had Cosmic Powers

During the "Black Vortex" crossover event, the X-Men suddenly found themselves teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova, and Captain Marvel to stop the Slaughter Lords from gaining the ultimate Celestial power. Though the Vortex allows the user to gain cosmic powers, Kitty is the only one willing to shoulder the burden in order to save Spartax, the planet where Peter Quill grew up as an orphan. With her newfound cosmic powers, Kitty manages to phase out the entire planet of Spartax and destroy the parasitic alien race known as The Brood.

7 She's A Star-Lord

During Brian Michael Bendis and Valerio Schiti's reboot of Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill retires from his life of being a space criminal and takes his rightful place as the Emperor of the Spartax. As Rocket Raccoon takes over the reins as team leader, there is still an empty spot left behind by Star-Lord.

Though Rocket has Drax, Groot, Flash Thompson as Agent Venom, and Ben Grimm aka The Thing, he honestly doesn't want Kitty to leave just yet. Rather than leave the group of misfits in the lurch, Kitty Pryde takes over the mantle of Star-Lord and becomes their new member, Star-Lady.

6 She's A Ninja Assassin

In Chris Claremont and Al Milgrom's Kitty Pryde And Wolverine, Logan's female sidekick finds herself kidnapped by the Yakuza, the Japanese crime syndicate. Brainwashed by the Japanese mob, the mutant heroine finds herself endowed with deadly new skills and becomes a deadly ninja assassin. Luckily, Wolverine is able to remove the conditioning from Kitty's hypnotized mind and revert her back to her true self. After finding her inner strength and battling against a group of well-trained ninjas, Kitty decides to call herself by her new heroic name as Shadowcat. Impressed by Shadowcast's tenacity and resilience, Wolverine believes Kitty will one day become the leader of the X-Men.

5 She's A Zombie Slayer

In Marvel Zombies Return, Kitty is one of the lucky few survivors of the zombie apocalypse, uninfected by the undead plague. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about her close friend, Peter Parker, who has been turned into Zombie Spider-Man.

Struggling to hold onto what's left of his humanity, Zombie Spider-Man has come up with a desperate plan to develop a cure from the uninfected. Knowing her untainted blood will save the world, Kitty puts her faith on the former superhero she once knew and sacrifices herself to put an end to the zombie uprising.

4 She's A Demon Slayer

In the holiday-themed Uncanny X-Men #143, an homage to the sci-fi thriller, Alien, Kitty single-handedly took down the bloodthirsty N'Garai demonic race.  While infiltrating the empty X-Mansion during the Christmas holidays, the N'Garai demon was unexpectedly discovered upon by Pryde. While the other members of the X-Men team, including Storm and Wolverine, were enjoying the holiday festivities, Kitty was being chased through the mansion by the seemingly unstoppable demonic beast. Using just her smarts and wits, Kitty managed to lure the demon near the Blackbird and jump-started the ignition, burning the evil creature to a fiery crisp.

3 She's Stronger Than Xavier

Very few have been able to stand up to Professor Charles Xavier because of his brainwashing telepathic powers. Though he may act like a mentor and teacher, Xavier has been known to enter someone else's mind and change memories to fit his personal needs. In Uncanny X-Men #168, Kitty Pryde famously called out Xavier's hypocrisy and ridiculed him as a jerk.

In the installment, Professor X demoted Kitty from her role in the X-Men, even after proving herself as an invaluable player during the deadly mutant missions.  She bravely snapped back at him, even after he said his decision was for her best interest.

2 She Became An Unstoppable Bullet

In Joss Whedon and John Cassady's Astonishing X-Men run, during the climatic pages of "Unstoppable," Kitty makes the defining choice to sacrifice her to save the entire world. The evil leaders of Breakworld decided to fire a giant bullet directly at Earth. Unable to stop the movement of the giant bullet, Kitty merged herself entirely with the invincible weapon and became intangible. With Kitty unable to remove herself, the bullet phased through Earth along with her. Though both vanished into the darkness of outer-space, Peter Nikolayevich Rasputin, aka Colossus, knew he would see his true love once again.

1 She's A Time Traveler

In Claremont and Byrne's "Days of Future Past" storyline, Kitty's mutant power is the major reason why she is able to travel backwards in time, from the apocalyptic 2013 to the '80s, and warn her friends about the impending assassination of Senator Robert Kelly. Because her powers have sharpened in the future timeline, a more mature and adult Pyrde is able to focus and phase her consciousness into her younger body. While inside her younger self, the future version of Sprite is able to change the timeline and make sure her dystopian nightmare doesn't ever take place.
