The newest Mortal Kombat 11 television spot features the return of classic character Kitana, who battles franchise staple Scorpion.
Kitana is part of the ever-growing roster of fighters for the new game. The game totals around 24 characters so far, but more are expected to be revealed as the game's release inches closer.
Though not a member of the first game, Kitana has been hanging around the franchise for over a quarter-century now, having first appeared in 1993's Mortal Kombat II. The story goes that Princess Kitana, step-daughter to Shao Kahn, turned against her family to align with the Earthrealmers and lead an army into the Outworld to prevent Kahn from rising to power again.
This will mark Kitana's 19th Mortal Kombat game in addition to appearances in both of the live-action movies, the online series Mortal Kombat: Legacy and the old TV series Mortal Kombat: Conquest, making her as ingrained in the franchise as she could be, just short of being a part of the original game.
Mortal Kombat 11 releases on April 23 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
