During Sunday's 71st Primetime Emmy Awards, Game of Thrones' eighth and final season won the top prize and took home the Outstanding Drama Series Award.

However, that didn't stop members of the press from asking the cast how they felt about the fan backlash surrounding the series' ending.

"I’ll take this one," star Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow on the popular fantasy series, answered. "Controversy. I still haven’t seen the show, so that’s how I dealt with that controversy. I haven’t seen the final season, but I know what it took to shoot it and it was hard, and everyone put their love and effort into it. Controversy for us -- we knew what we were doing was right story wise and we knew that it was right for the characters because we lived with them for ten years. Controversy for us -- didn’t really effect us."

Game of Thrones' final season had a record of 32 nominations at the 71st Emmy Awards. Out of those nominations, the series secured 12 wins.
