A new rumor suggests Game of Thrones star Kit Harington might be under consideration for the role of Batman.

Speculation has long run rampant that Ben Affleck is looking to exit Warner Bros.' so-called DC Extended Universe, and director Matt Reeves' The Batman could be his ticket out of the role. Jake Gyllenhaal and Jack Huston have been among the actors rumored as a potential successor, but now an intriguing new name has been added to the mix.

According to Revenge of the Fans, Warner Bros. is said to have created a digital mock-up of Harington in costume as Batman. It’s unknown whether anything came arose from that development, but it does suggest some truth to reports that The Batman will star a younger actor.

Harington said in 2015 that he'd love to portray Batman, only he'd want to "camp him up again." "[Batman’s] gone way too dark and serious," he said. "I’d like proper Spandex. Superhero movies all get too serious – they need to get silly again.”

The Batman is expected to begin filming in 2019.
