WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Kissing Booth 3, now streaming on Netflix.

Netflix's The Kissing Booth 3 has an emotional ending filled with swerves as Elle (Joey King) finally sorts her future out. And it's surprisingly away from romance as she pursued a video game development career at USC, not opting to follow Lee (Joel Courtney) to Berkeley or Noah (Jacob Elordi) to Harvard.

The Kissing Booth 3 does conclude on an intriguing note, however, which leaves fans wondering if a fourth chapter is possible.

What Does Elle's Future Hold?

Elle ends up at the Los Angeles fair six years later, reuniting with Lee and Rachel who are engaged after separating for their own university tenures. Noah also shows up, striking up chemistry again with Elle as if they never parted ways. The movie ends with them taking a bike ride together, more mature and hinting that maybe a reconciliation could happen.

Thus, a sequel can dissect the dynamic of them being working adults, as Noah's now in the business field and in high demand in LA and New York. But this could potentially stunt their personal growth due to the fact that in six years they didn't reconnect, opting to carve out careers away from angsty drama.

The bike ride seemingly symbolizes something nostalgic and a last ride with friends for old time's sake. But given the popularity and fan reception, we can see a follow-up happening, especially as Lee and Rachel's wedding would be the ideal place for Elle and Noah's romance to be reborn.

Does Netflix Have a Kissing Booth 4 Planned?

Unfortunately, Netflix does not have a new chapter planned, with promotional material labelling this threequel the end of an era. It was always touted as a trilogy, and it seems to follow the Dawson's Creek and The Wonder Years patterns of soulmates who truly love each other but aren't meant to be in love. It's what Noah's friend, Chloe, realizes from her parents' divorce, telling Elle to keep her chin up.

Even King admitted in the 2021 Netflix previews, "I love to see an incredible story come to an end." The author of the book, Beth Reekles, even blogged about this finale being complete and filled with closure, which actually preceded the release of the final chapter of her novels.

"When I finished the edits on The Kissing Booth 3: One Last Time, and when I watched the third movie for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I sobbed my heart out. I felt like I was grieving -- and I was," she wrote. "This is all 10 years in the making, 10 years of Elle and Lee and Noah, and now… Now, it’s all come to an end. It's the final chapter in their story." This indicates that Netflix will have to dredge up an original story and expand outside of the books if the streaming service wants to pursue something down the line.

To see how the series concludes, The Kissing Booth 3 is now streaming on Netflix.
