As Fox prepares for its acquisition by Disney to be finalized in the coming weeks, the studio has pushed back the release date for its planned Kingsman prequel.

The prequel to the Image Comics' adaptation, which originally was slated for a wide release this November, is now scheduled to open on February 14, 2020. This matches the release window of the 2014 original film, Kingsman: The Secret Service, which earned $414.4 million at the worldwide box office upon its own February release.

Based on the hit comic book series by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, the third installment of the espionage franchise will reportedly take place during World War I and show the formative days of the British spy agency.

As with the previous two installments, the upcoming prequel will be produced, directed and co-written by Matthew Vaughn, with the filmmaker reportedly planning to create a sequel to 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, reuniting him with original star Taron Egerton.
