Director Matthew Vaughn will return to helm the currently-untitled Kingsman 3, which is reportedly targeted for release on Nov. 8, 2019.
The news comes from Exhibitor Relations on Twitter, which claims the follow-up to 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle will release late next year. The account also confirmed Vaughn would return to write and direct the film.
The holy trinity has been confirmed. Fox's UNTITLED KINGSMAN MOVIE drops Nov. 8, 2019. And yes, Matthew Vaughn returns to write and direct.— Exorcist Relations (@ERCboxoffice) September 21, 2018
Vaughn is currently plotting a reboot of Kick-Ass and spinoffs to expand the Kingsman franchise. Both properties are, of course, adaptations of comic series created by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. (Kick-Ass), and Millar and Dave Gibbons (Kingsman). Directed and co-written by Vaughn, 2010’s Kick-Ass was a violent comedy about an ordinary teenager (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who set out to become a superhero, but becomes caught up in a bigger fight involving the crime-fighting Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and his vigilante daughter Hit-Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz). A cult fit, Kick-Ass spawned a 2013 sequel.
2015's Kingsman: The Secret Service earned over $414 million at the worldwide box office during its run. The film's sequel, 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle, saw a slightly smaller take, only earning around $410 million. Although the original film holds a 74% on Rotten Tomatoes and the coveted "Certified Fresh" rating, Kingsman: The Golden Circle currently sits at a much lower 53%.
Matthew Vaughn will write and direct Kingsman 3, which is slated to open Nov. 9, 2019. The movie is a sequel to Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Sophie Cookson, joined by Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges. It’s currently available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
