Director Matthew Vaughn revealed Kingsman 3 will finish Eggsy and Harry's story.

Speaking to GamesRadar+, Vaughn teased the upcoming installment in the Kingsman franchise and promised an exciting final chapter for Eggsy and Harry's characters. "We're shooting Kingsman 3 or 4, whatever you want to call it, next year. That's the conclusion of the Eggsy/Harry story," he said. "We're going down a road [where] if anyone was surprised by going World War One, they're going to think I've totally lost my mind for what Kingsman 3 is."

Vaughn -- who directed Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and upcoming prequel The Kings Man -- added that he's taking a different approach to the third film. "I was a little bit shackled on [The Golden Circle]," he explained. "This time I thought, fuck it, I'm going to throw the kitchen sink at it, piss people off and make other people excited."

Vaughn also discussed how the future of the franchise after Kingsman 3 depends on audience demand. "I do love the idea of exploring Statesman and the American side of it," he added. "But it's really up to the public. I mean, if they enjoy it, and want another one then we'll make one. I don't want to overdo it. But also there has to be stories worth telling. It might happen, it might not. We'll see."

Kingsman: The Secret Service followed Eggsy, a young boy from South London who was recruited by a spy organization. Alongside his father’s friend and fellow agent Harry Hart, Eggsy attempted to stop a tech billionaire from killing thousands across the globe. In the sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Eggsy turned to the spy organization's U.S. ally to help bring down the evil threat of the Golden Circle drug cartel.

Vaughn confirmed that filming for Kingsman 3 will begin in September 2022. Taron Egerton is reprising his role as Eggsy, and the director's comments seemingly confirm the return of Colin Firth as Harry. Details regarding the plot are unknown, and a release date has yet to be set. Mark Strong, who plays tech expert Merlin, also previously noted his interest in returning to the franchise, despite his character dying at the end of The Golden Circle.

In the meantime, Kingsman fans can look forward to The Kings Man, which follows the origin story of the spy organization as it attempts to stop criminal masterminds from starting a global war. The Kings Man opens in theaters on Dec. 22.
