Vincent D'Onofrio shared a particularly muscled gym selfie ahead of his rumored return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his appearance in Disney+'s Hawkeye.

"63 but who's counting," D'Onofrio wrote in the caption of the photo, which he shared on Twitter under the hashtag, "#NoFearNoGreedNoEnvy." While the actor reprised his Daredevil role as the villain Wilson Fisk/Kingpin for his MCU debut in Disney+'s Hawkeye series, it has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios or Disney when and where his character will appear again.

D'Onofrio portrayed the crime boss Wilson Fisk/Kingpin for all three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil series, which began in 2015 before being canceled in 2018. This left the characters from all of the now-defunct Marvel Television shows off-limits to Marvel Studios for the next two years. However, rumors began to circulate that the actor would reprise his role for Disney+'s Hawkeye after it was confirmed that the series would include Alaqua Cox's Maya Lopez/Echo, who in the comics is Fisk's adoptive daughter.

Though it was not officially confirmed that the character would appear in Hawkeye until Episode 5, D'Onofrio routinely trolled fans regarding his possible appearance in the series. While Hawkeye directors Bert and Bertie previously explained that, in terms of Marvel's Netflix shows, there was "never any kind of requirement or need to meld Daredevil and Hawkeye in any way." However, D'Onofrio has stated that the version of Kingpin in the Disney+ series is the same character that appeared on Daredevil.

"He obviously has more physical strength and can take a lot more physical abuse, but from a story point of view it was discussed that this is after the Blip, that he is the same guy that was in Daredevil, but he's lost some of his power and that my arc in Hawkeye is that I want my power back," D'Onofrio said.

Daredevil, along with the rest of Netflix's Marvel Television shows, is now available on Disney+ and the series has since been confirmed as canon to the rest of the MCU. Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock even appeared in a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and it's been confirmed that a Disney+ reboot of Daredevil is in the works. However, the season finale of Hawkeye left Kingpin's future in the MCU uncertain, though D'Onofrio hopes that the character will return in a future project. "I hope he didn't die," he said. "I'm with the fans, I want to keep playing this part. My hope is that we continue."

It's currently unclear how big D'Onofrio's role will be in the MCU going forward, but with his connection to Maya Lopez/Echo, he could have a larger part to play in the upcoming Echo Disney+ series starring Alaqua Cox, which will connect directly to the events of Hawkeye.

All six episodes of Hawkeye are now streaming on Disney+.
