The beloved role-playing game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, will be getting a re-release. The news comes from an official listing on the Microsoft Games Store, giving the game a clever updated title as well, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning.

The description from Microsoft Games Store reads, "The hit RPG returns! From the minds of the bestselling author R.A. Salvatore, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion lead designer Ken Rolston, comes Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning. Remastered with stunning visuals and refined gameplay Re-Reckoning delivers intense, customizable RPG combat inside a sprawling game world."

The rest of the description says, "Uncover the secrets of Amalur, from the vibrant city of Rathir to the vast region of Dalentarth to the grim dungeons of the Brigand Hall Caverns. Rescue a world torn apart by a vicious war and control the keys to immortality as the first warrior ever to be resurrected from the grips of death."

The original game was released in 2012 and saw moderate success. The rights to the game were later acquired by THQ Nordic after the previous developer, 38 Studios, filed for bankruptcy.

Fans of the game won't have to wait too long to get their hands on this updated copy, however, as the game is set to launch on August 18th, 2020. While the game is only listed for Xbox One on the Microsoft Store, Amazon also has the game listed for both Playstation 4 and PC. It's currently unknown whether the game will be designed to take advantage of the considerable power of Microsoft's and Sony's next-gen consoles.
