The long-awaited final chapter in Square Enix's popular action-RPG trilogy Kingdom Hearts has released a new trailer featuring more classic Disney and Pixar properties than ever before.
Returning protagonist Sora teams up once again with Goofy and Donald Duck with the trio attempting to save the various Disney and Pixar worlds from the dark forces from the evil Master Xehanort from plunging the universe into a devastating war.
Worlds seen in the trailer include settings and characters from Frozen, Toy Story, Big Hero Six, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hercules, Tangled, Sleeping Beauty, Monsters Inc., and the video game Epic Mickey. Additionally, Sora is able to summon assist characters with the trailer showing Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Ralph in all his initial 8-bit glory from Wreck-It Ralph helping the hero out.
Featuring a blend of the animation style and storytelling sensibilities of Square Enix's Final Fantasy franchise and the beloved worlds and characters from the Walt Disney Company, the Kingdom Hearts series launched in 2002 on the PlayStation 2. A direct sequel was released on the PlayStation 2 in 2005 with six additional spinoff games being released on handheld consoles and mobile devices from 2004 to 2015.
Kingdom Hearts III is developed by Square Enix. It is scheduled to be released on January 29 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
