Tank Girl returns with an explosive new graphic novel.

Coming this December from Titan Comics, King Tank Girl by writer Alan Martin (Judge Dredd: Megazine, Deadline) and artist Brett Parson (New Romancer, 2000 AD). A republishing of the 2020 five-issue limited series, King Tank Girl drops the titular antihero right into the middle of a quiet, unsuspecting medieval landscape. When Tank Girl learns that her mutant kangaroo boyfriend Booga may have one of an ultra-rare series of action figures back in Cornwall, she and her friends embark on a journey across the sea.

Tank Girl first appeared in 1988's Deadline, a British comics magazine, and quickly exploded in popularity in the years that followed. Created by Alan Martin and original artist and future Gorillaz co-founder Jamie Hewlett, Tank Girl became a counter-culture phenomenon, even spawning the 1995 feature film of the same name starring Lori Petty in the titular role alongside Ice-T, Malcolm MacDowell and Naomi Watts. A reboot of the franchise on the silver screen had previously been planned with Margot Robbie set to star, but the film was shuttered in late 2020 due to concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, then-director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte described the Tank Girl universe as "Free and anarchistic[...], from the art, to the characters to the politics, to sort of the fragmented nature of the stories that they're telling."

Though the original comic book series came to an abrupt end shortly after the finale of 1996's Tank Girl: Apocalypse published by Vertigo, it returned in 2007 under IDW Publishing with Martin and artist Ashley Wood's Tank Girl: The Gifted. This series was followed by various other miniseries and one-shots, most of which were penned and illustrated by Martin and Parson respectively, courtesy of IDW, Eric Powell's Albatross Funnybooks and Image Comics. Titan Comics acquired the rights to reprint the original Martin and Hewlett run in 2012. Titan released what was touted as the first ongoing series for the character beginning in Jan. 2019, with the first four issues published as Tank Girl: Action Alley, followed by the final four issues entitled Tank Girl Forever.

King Tank Girl goes on sale on Dec. 13 from Titan Comics. The graphic novel is currently available for pre-order on Amazon and Forbidden Planet.
