King Shark May Appear in "Flash"/"Arrow" Crossover Event

UPDATE 11:48 AM: CBR News has confirmed with The CW that King Shark will not be a part of the upcoming "Arrow" /"Flash" crossover.

During a panel appearance this past weekend at Heroes & Villains Fan Fest in San Jose, CA, "Arrow" star David Ramsey indicated that King Shark may be making his return to the Arrowverse as part of the upcoming "Arrow"/"Flash" crossover.

"[W]e are going to be tracking down a particular member of the Suicide Squad that so happens to be a 14-foot shark," Ramsey told the audience of the storyline that brings Team Arrow and Team Flash together again.

While Ramsey's answer, reported by ComicBook.com, appears unambiguous as to whether the fearsome Earth Two villain -- or his Earth One counterpart -- is part of the crossover event's storyline, it doesn't state outright that we'll be seeing the aquatic nightmare on screen again.

CBR News has reached out to The CW and Warner Bros. for further information.

In an interview following King Shark's surprise debut on "The Flash," EP Andrew Kreisberg discussed what went into the villain's initial appearance, and explained why it was purely a cameo appearance rather than a full episode role.

"It was a very expensive 30 seconds of the show, but our visual effects them are the best and they love challenges like this," Kerisberg said. "It was just fun for us. Obviously we can't afford to do an entire King Shark episode, so the idea was that he was one of Zoom's minions and just the latest in the line. Which does mean that there is a King Shark on Earth One."

The "Arrow"/"Flash" crossover episodes serve as a prelude to the upcoming "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," the third CW series set in the Arrowverse. Casper Crump will debut in the crossover as long-running DC Comics villain Vandal Savage, who will be the primary "Legends of Tomorrow" antagonist.

The "Flash" half of "Heroes Join Forces," "Legends of Today," airs at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1. The "Arrow" half, titled "Legends of Yesterday," airs 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2. Here's the official network description of both episodes:

"Legends of Today

PART ONE OF THE EPIC CROSSOVER WITH "ARROW" - In its second major crossover event with "Arrow," Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renee). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco (Carlos Valdes), they turn to Barry (Grant Gustin) for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison (Tom Cavanagh) develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out. Ralph Hemecker directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing (#208).
