Marvel's symbiote god, Knull, has done a lot of destroying in his conquests. Long before King in Black, his pursuit of eternal darkness has seen him take entire worlds as his own, twisting them into black masses and sending his horde of dragons through the cosmos in search of new lights to snuff out.

Beyond all of that, Knull has also done a good bit of creating in his time. Now, we're taking a closer look at everything Knull created to help him in his mission to return the Marvel Universe into the void he covets.

All-Black the Necrosword

all-black

The first symbiote was the Necrosword, All-Black was created by Knull when he first came into contact with the Celestials. When their Light of Creation disturbed Knull's peaceful drifting through the abyss, he cast his first shadow, and from it, he pulled out a blade of living darkness. After using All-Black to behead a Celestial, he took the weapon with him on his quest to kill the beings who had disturbed his peaceful slumber. When Knull fell, All-Black found its way into the hands of Gorr the God Butcher, before both the blade and Gorr were destroyed by Thor.

Void Knight

When the Silver Surfer was thrust billions of years into the past, he sensed a force that was seeking to end all existence before it could begin. Upon investigation, the Surfer ended up on the symbiote homeworld of Klyntar. Knull called forth a symbiote from the heart of the planet itself, and once bonded to the Silver Surfer they became the Void Knight. Although the creature certainly looked imposing, the full potential of the Void Knight was never explored as he was destroyed in swift manner by Ego the Living Planet.

Exolon

One of Knull's early attempts at manipulating the living darkness to create symbiotes was deemed a failure by the dark god, and so he discarded it in a region of space known as the Exoteric Latitude. When a group of Kree explorers stumbled across Knull's creations, they bonded to the adventurers much like the Klyntar symbiotes do to their hosts. The Exolon aren't nearly as strong as the Klyntar, but are still frightful, being said to feed on their hosts very souls, though the Kree hero Wraith was able to resist this side effect and maintain control of himself and his symbiote.

Mister E

Smythe Mister E

A one-off villain from decades ago has recently made a thrilling return in the pages of Symbiote Spider-Man, as well as receiving a shocking retcon. Mister E originally faced off against Captain Universe when the villain from the Shadow Dimension came to black out the sun. A serious threat by any measure, Mister E seems more interested in bonding with other symbiotes than anything else, and that include Peter Parker's symbiotic black Spider-Man suit. There still isn't much known about Mister E's origins, or what their role in Knull's plans are exactly, but no answer to either of those questions can be good.

Symbiote Dragons

Massive, winged beasts made from the living abyss, the symbiote dragons were some of Knull's earliest creations. These behemoths not only act as Knull's personal mount in his conquest of worlds, they are also a weapon, raining from the sky and creeping their tendrils into any inhabitants who might be useful to Knull as part of his symbiote army. As scary as a dragon might be, even one made of the living darkness, the most terrifying part about them is their ability to envelope entire planets, forming a symbiote shell around them to black out the skies and solidify their place as part of Knull's forces.

Symbiotes

The first appearance of the five Life Foundation symbiotes from Marvel Comics

The Exolon might have been deemed a failure by Knull, but the Klyntar symbiotes such as Venom and Carnage were arguably his greatest success, on top of being the most recognizable of Knull's creations. Their importance in his reign has only grown over the past couple of years, with the revelation of their genetic codex carrying knowledge and experience crucial to the Symbiote King increasing his power. With every symbiote that Knull reclaims, he grows more powerful, more ferocious, and more deadly. Their place in the Marvel universe has been cemented for decades, but now it looks like their time in the spotlight was only a precursor to what is happening now.

Dark Carnage

Cletus Kasady, probably the most violent and lethal of all Marvel villains, became a household name when he bonded to the symbiotic offspring of Venom and became Carnage. He's also died a few times, but that never keeps him down for long. When the Church of New Darkness stole Kasady's corpse, they planned to turn him into Knull's new vessel by bonding a portion of the Grendel symbiote to him.

Initially connected to Knull through a psychic connection, Kasady went on a spine ripping rampage, killing any who had bonded to his symbiote before in order to take their codex, and exhuming the corpses of those who'd already passed in order to do the same. His newfound power transformed him into something more than a symbiote serial killer or harbinger of Knull, and Carnage would go through several transformations on his way to becoming Dark Carnage.
