Falcon King in Black Fire

While many heroes assembled by Captain America had been overwhelmed after mounting a desperate defense against the invading army in Times Square, Falcon and the Winter Soldier managed to elude the opening salvo as their friends -- including Cap -- were transformed into ravenous monsters after being possessed by Knull's symbiotes. While Cap was eventually restored when Dylan Brock purged the symbiote from him, the Star-Spangled Avenger still needs to get by with a little help from his friends as Knull attempts to reassert control over him. en Falcon notices Steve Rogers is still not completely himself, the superhero decides to give his recovering friend and the civilians they're protecting by unveiling his latest weapon: Fire wings.

Igniting his wings, Falcon soars through the sky and drops a fiery payload on the approaching symbiote army to stave them off from Captain America, Bucky Barnes and the civilians around them. The tactic succeeds in buying the heroes more time, but it unexpectedly triggers a hallucination in Steve Rogers' mind urging him to stop the flaming defense by pelting Falcon midflight with his vibranium shield. While Cap is able to resist Knull's telepathic commands, Falcon desperately requires his assistance as he comes under attack from symbiote dragons flying over New York City.

Falcon King in Black fight

With modifications designed by Black Panther in 1974's Captain America #170 by Steve Englehart, Mike Friedrich and Sal Buscema, Falcon's flight harness is one of the more advanced weapons in the Marvel Universe. In addition to its heated wings and surprise flamethrower, Falcon's wings are made from a vibranium microweave that keeps them safe from these flames and makes them virtually indestructible. Sam Wilson has other armaments fitted into the wings and harness, including a grappling hook to attach himself to buildings and other aircraft uses the wings very much as an extension of himself both in flight and combat that has made him one of Steve Rogers' most trustworthy allies for years, adding further modifications during his own time holding the Captain America mantle himself.

While Sam's fiery upgrade to his Falcon harness only provides a temporary respite from Knull's invading army, it does help give Captain America more time to regain his bearings and reassert control over his own body. Falcon has always been one to take point when Steve Rogers is sidelined, and Sam Wilson has brought plenty of new tricks to the party. Whether or not some of these upgrades will make their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the hero will have a new harness provided by StarkTech as he takes flight once again. And hopefully, Falcon had enough spare room to pack a flamethrower in before his MCU return.
