WARNING: The following contains spoilers for King in Black #3, by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

In King in Black, Knull defeated most of the world's greatest superheroes with ease. Then, to make matters worse, he bonded all of the Avengers and X-Men who had been defeated in battle with his symbiotes, transforming them into "Venomized" versions that now answered to him. What few superheroes remained regrouped and tried to devise a plan to stop the god of the symbiotes. After Dylan Brock showed the extent of his powers, it's determined in King in Black #3 that he may be their best bet at severing Knull's control over his hive.

During the battle, the Venomized Avengers attack, and Dylan faces Captain America. But instead of falling in battle against the Sentinel of Liberty, Dylan Brock once again proves his superiority by going full Winter Soldier.

In King in Black #3, Reed Richards and the rest of the heroes plan on getting Dylan Brock out of their base, which is currently under attack by Knull's forces. If they have any hope of winning, they need Dylan and his abilities to free everyone who was bonded with a symbiote by Knull.

As for Dylan himself, he is still reeling from the very recent passing of his father, Eddie Brock. Eddie was separated from the Venom symbiote and dropped from the side of the Empire State Building by Knull. The impact left him near death, but Iron Man planned on healing him by having him bond with a symbiote dragon. Unfortunately, the process proved too much for the wounded Eddie, and he succumbed to his wounds as King in Black #2 came to a close. Now, as issue #3 begins, this loss is still incredibly fresh to Dylan. He's furious, and he's ready to take the fight to Knull.

This anger is perhaps what allows him to be so steadfast when the symbiote-controlled Captain America attacks him. When faced with the monstrous Sentinel of Liberty, Dylan isn't phased in the slightest.

The Venomized Steve Rogers throws his shield at the teenager, but Dylan doesn't move out of its way. He simply stands there and raises his hand, purging the red, white and blue shield from all traces of symbiote. Then, he catches the shield with a single hand, achieving a feat that very few people have.

Dylan's catch of Captain America's shield calls to mind a scene from 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. In the MCU film, Steve Rogers chases after the titular villain on top of a rooftop building, and he ends up throwing his shield at him. However, the Winter Soldier simply turns around and firmly catches the shield with a single hand, something that takes Steve by surprise given that this isn't something a normal human could achieve.

Of course, the Winter Soldier was able to catch the shield because of his own super-soldier serum, as well as his Vibranium arm. But that isn't the case for King in Black's Dylan. The son of Venom doesn't have a metal arm, and he's no super-soldier. He is, however, a creation of the Venom symbiote, a direct response to it sensing the coming threat of Knull. There is still much we don't understand about Dylan's abilities, but we know he is incredibly powerful -- something he once again proves with a simple catch.
