WARNING: The following contains spoilers for King in Black #3, by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and VC's Clayton Cowles, on sale now.

As the dark god of symbiotes, Knull possesses the power to use insidious extraterrestrials to overtake others to bring under his sinister will. One of the first things that Knull did after making landfall on Earth was use his army of symbiotes to overwhelm the assembled heroes that mounted a desperate defense in the streets of New York City. In a matter of moments, many of Marvel's most iconic heroes were bonded to symbiotes and rose up as twisted, Knullified versions of themselves, now faithful servants of Knull.

And as the battle to save the Marvel Universe from Knull continues in King in Black #3, Venom's son, Dylan Brock, rescued one of the evil god's new recruits and brought Captain America back to the light.

Knullified Captain America

Ever since awakening at the end of the crossover event Absolute Carnage, Knull has searched for Venom's young son Dylan Brock. Even at such an early age, the boy possesses the ability to control symbiotes just like Knull, stirring the god from his deep slumber on the other side of the cosmos and leading him to progress towards Earth with his vast army. Despite Iron Man setting up an elaborate, orbital defense, Knull easily conquered the planet while Dylan was moved away to the safety of a bunker that shielded him from being telepathically detected by the villain.

With Manhattan all but completely lost, the remaining heroes regroup at the Baxter Building and decide to escort Dylan out of the city to keep him from Knull's grasp. Dylan is still grief-stricken in the wake of apparently losing his father to Knull and quickly lashes out at the symbiotes as they menace him and his escorts. Leading the charge is the Knullified Steve Rogers, with Dylan shocking the symbiote off of the Star-Spangled Avenger with the wave of his hand. The move restores Captain America, with Steve bearing no evident memories of his time under Knull's thrall. True to form, as soon as the Sentinel of Liberty regains his bearings, he leaps right back into the fight against the symbiotes invading his hometown.

Knull Captain America

In his first moments out in the open and in the middle of Knull's conquest of Earth, Dylan has proven that he can instantly restore any figure that has been converted by the symbiote god's army. This could deprive Knull of his bolstered ranks in a matter of moments and put the symbiotes back on the defensive rather than let them continue to add to their number. Perhaps even more tellingly, Dylan's powers have been shown to actually hurt Knull himself, stopping the god dead in his tracks as he arrives on the scene, which gives him the first reason to crack his usual, confident demeanor.

Ever since King in Black's opening issue, the heroes have been battered and beaten every step of the way, with every line of defense easily breached and scattered as Knull bears closer and closer on his target. While Dylan has emerged from the bunker and made himself vulnerable to the symbiote armies conquering New York City, the boy is potentially just as powerful as Knull and has brought back one of the god's mightiest recruits back from the symbiotes' vile influence. And while Captain America still finds himself facing overwhelming odds, Dylan may be able to restore enough heroes to help turn the tide of battle.
