As the King in Black invades the Marvel Universe, it was only a matter of time before Knull set his sights on Black Panther's nation of Wakanda. An upcoming February 2021 one-shot titled King in Black: Black Panther will examine how T'Challa balances his duties leading the Avengers against protecting his people against the god of symbiotes, all while utilizing some advanced Wakandan weapons.

CBR has an exclusive look at Leinil Francis Yu's cover of King in Black: Black Panther #1 by writer Geoffrey Thorne and artist Germán Peralta, which features Black Panther soaring through the air with a piece of Wakandan flying apparatus strapped to his back. T'Challa is joined by Shuri and Okoye as they prepare to battle an army of symbiote demons attacking from the ground and air.

"It is always my honor and pleasure to write a T'Challa adventure," Thorne told CBR regarding writing Black Panther for the King in Black event. "Any format. Any medium. Any time. Any place. I couldn't be happier to be part of this team and I hope we do our own king-in-black justice. Wakanda Forever."

King in Black is the next installment of writer Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman's Venom saga. The event teases heroes such as the Avengers and X-Men coming together to stand against Knull, with Eddie Brock's climactic standoff with the terrifying villain looming in the background. King in Black is a successor to Absolute Carnage, which resulted in Eddie Brock and Venom releasing Knull from his cosmic prison, with the villain now making his way towards Earth for revenge.

Marvel has released its first wave of King in Black tie-ins, which include a team-up between former rivals Iron Man and Doctor Doom as they battle a Knull-controlled Santa Claus. January 2021's King in Black tie-ins feature spotlights for heroes (and villains) such as Black Knight, the Thunderbolts, Gwenom and Valkyries. The second wave includes Return of the Valkyries, along with one-shots and tie-ins for Daredevil, Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, Savage Avengers and S.W.O.R.D.
