Sometimes, even the smallest acts of self-care are hard to remember, whether it's taking a deep breath, stretching, or going for a short walk. In the last several years, dozens of self-care apps have cropped up for both iOS and Android, ranging from scheduled reminders to interactive games. This year, Lumi Interactive will release Kinder World, a mobile game that allows players to raise plants, share encouraging messages with the community and do small (but important) acts of self-care.

Kinder World is slated to launch on Kickstarter in February, with a planned late summer/early fall release for the game. Players will raise plants by completing small, gentle activities like expressing gratitude, stretching, or doing breathing exercises. They can also share supportive messages with other Kinder World players, as well as plant cuttings.

The goal behind Kinder World is literally in the name: To create a kinder world. This community space is already thriving on Discord, where players can check out a demo for iOS or Android and share the plants they create in the Plant Wish mini-game, which is available now. Lumi hopes to collect 20 thousand Plant Wishes and, at time of writing, it has collected just over 100.

In Plant Wish, players can choose their plant type, pot and decor to create a cozy, cute scene. When they're satisfied with their design, they hit "done" and receive a special message. In Kinder World, players can also customize their plants, and they will grow via procedural generation over time, which means each one is completely unique. Additionally, players can unlock rare variegations and new plant varieties.

As players grow their plants and decorate their in-game spaces, they can access self-kindness resources and information for building positive habits, all while listening to lo-fi sounds and music.

This game may remind some players of Plant Nanny, which tasks users with drinking enough water each day to keep their digital plants alive, or Aloe Bud, a customizable self-care app that sends gentle reminders for users to complete tasks like brushing their teeth, taking their medications, or moving their bodies. Kinder World feels like the perfect marriage of these two apps, providing a guilt-free means of caring for digital plants that also encourages self-kindness.

Interested players can gain access to the Kinder World demo by joining the Discord server, or check out Plant Wish on the Lumi Interactive website.
