WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of Killing Eve.

When Killing Eve's third season began, we know there'd be consequences for Kenny (Sean Delaney) sniffing around the Twelve despite leaving MI6. We had no idea, though, it'd come at the end of the season premiere, in which someone tossed the hacker off the roof of his new online investigative job at Bitter Pill.

This led to Eva (Sandra Oh), Carolyn (Fiona Shaw) and Kenny's editorial team uniting to solve his murder. However, just as they unlock a major facet of the mystery in "Meetings Have Biscuits," there are bloody, immediate repercussions.

Eva and her makeshift team have gotten hold of Kenny's thumb drive with his work, as well as his phone. It's the thumb drive that holds the key stuff, though, as they discover he was following a bank account belonging to Frank -- the rogue MI5 agent who was secretly working as an informant for the Twelve, only to be killed by Villanelle in Season 1. The Chinese black ops agent, Fat Panda, who was also monitoring Frank's bank account was killed by Villanelle too, so it seemed like the Twelve was indeed covering their tracks so they couldn't be linked to an international espionage ring within world powers.

But the bank account went dead after Frank's death. Interestingly, after the Rome escapade undid Eve's MI6 team, it became active again and now, thanks to Mo (Carolyn's understudy at MI6), they discover it's a bank account tied to Geneva with money now being taken from it. Carol uses her wits and old reputation as a seductress to uncover more from an ex, a banker working in Geneva, and it turns out $6 million has been taken from the account that's run by a handler, Sergei. Kenny was apparently trying to trace the transaction and see if the Twelve or a representative was withdrawing money.

Intriguingly, midway through the episode, we see Konstantin, a Keeper with the Twelve, visiting an old friend in London named Charles Kruger. As Carolyn discovers, Charles is actually Sergei and an old acquaintance, so she rushes to meet him with Mo. By that time, he's already informed Konstantin the money's missing and he needs his buddy's help to replace it or else the Twelve will come for his head. Konstantin promises to help, but things go awry later on when Carolyn and Mo pick Sergei up to take him into custody.

He tries to run away, but doesn't succeed. They place him in the backseat. They don't realize, however, an assassin disguised as a cop on a bike is coming. The killer pulls them over in what seems to be a routine stop and pulls the trigger after asking Carolyn for her license. In the aftermath, a disoriented Mo looks over at Carolyn. There's shattered glass all around, blood on her head and she isn't moving. Thankfully, she's not dead; the bullet grazed her, as the real target was Sergei. He has a bullet in his head, and the duo realize the assassin, revealed to be Villanelle, silenced him after her mentor Dasha got orders from the Twelve.

It's an epic fake out, as Eve's sleuthing back at Bitter Pill left her thinking Villanelle's presence was to add to the MI6 bodycount. This now leaves us wondering who stole the money and why, especially as Konstantin is shocked in the finale when Villanelle tells him she murdered Sergei for the Twelve. It's obvious this bank account is a death sentence and no one knows who's accessing it. Still, Bitter Pill's journalists, Jamie and Bear, want to solve Kenny's death, and Eve and Carolyn won't stop either, no matter the cost.

Starring Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Fiona Shaw, Kim Bodnia, Harriet Walter, Danny Sapani, Gemma Whelan and Steve Pemberton, the third season of Killing Eve airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC and BBC America.
