Jodie Comer wishes Killing Eve viewers would stop asking her to talk like her psychopathic alter ego.

While discussing her new film The Last Duel with Time Out, the Free Guy actor was asked if she ever pulled a prank on anyone by confronting them in character as her Killing Eve character Villanelle. Comer responded, "No, never. Sometimes I get asked to do it if I'm out in a bar and someone's had a couple of drinks. My insides just go: 'Urghhh' and my toes curl up. So no, I never get that one out – only when I'm on set and they say action."

The role of multilingual assassin Villanelle made the Killing Eve star famous for her chameleon-like ability to seamlessly switch between accents. Comer learned this skill by watching TV commercials as a child. As she explained, "Anything on the television that had some sort of regional accent, whether it was Cilla Black or a KFC advert... me and my dad would always mimic them, purely just to make each other laugh."

The actor's versatility resulted in her facing a new challenge, playing the dual role of Millie and Molotov opposite Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy. Breaking down her approach to the different characters, she claimed, "I mean, it was a huge part of what attracted me to the piece, especially having this girl Millie and Molotov being a creation of her. It was so important that it was always an essence of Millie, but that Molotov was also very, very different."

Although it is currently unclear whether Comer will return for the Free Guy sequel, she is confirmed to reprise her role as Villanelle one last time in the fourth and final season of Killing Eve, which is scheduled to air on BBC America sometime in 2022.
