The following article contains spoilers from Batgirls #9, on sale now.

The Batgirls may be facing a new threat to the anonymity of their identities. In the absence of Seer, another villain may now know one of the greatest secrets in Gotham. Batgirls #9 (by Becky Cloonan, Michael W. Conrad, Neil Googe, Rico Renzi, and Becca Carey) ended with Killer Moth spying on the heroines in their apartment before flying away. This implies that one of the DCU's strangest villains now knows who some of the Bat-Family's most important members are.

While it hasn't been confirmed that Killer Moth knows who they truly are, there is evidence to support that he is aware of the truth. He has previously broken into their headquarters before, and if he tailed them in secret, then in all likelihood he has pieced two and two together. If so, then the Batgirls are now facing an enemy who has no reason to keep their secret.

Killer Moth Spies on the Batgirls

This isn't the first time that Killer Moth has crossed paths with a Batgirl. In "Up At Bat" from DC Pride 2022 #1 (by Jadzia Axelrod, Lynne Yoshii, Tamra Bonvillain, and Ariana Maher), he managed to track her back to her base within the clock tower after injuring her. Had it not been for the presence of Alysia Yeoh, he would likely have killed her. Now, history seems to be repeating itself, promising that even if Killer Moth isn't aware of the truth yet, his proximity to them will make it an inevitability.

It seems too coincidental that Alysia appeared in this issue as well to reconnect with Barbara Gordon. Her presence might hint at a greater involvement in the adventures of the Batgirls, especially if Killer Moth is involved. Overall, there is a lot to suggest that his presence means that his feud with Batgirl isn't over just yet.

Killer Moth Knows Where the Batgirls Live

If this is true, then Killer Moth will likely be planning another attack on the Batgirls. He's already assaulted one of their most secure bases, compared to that, their apartment has very little in the way of personal defense. This is, of course, assuming that he even intends to fight them at all. Depending on which version of the character is being introduced to fans, he may just sell such valuable information to the highest bidder, which could cause even more problems.

Then there is the sinister possibility that Killer Moth might not even be the next main antagonist of the upcoming story. Killer Moth is rarely the mastermind behind a plot against the Bat-Family. It's reasonable to assume that he is just a pawn in this scheme, too. The issue certainly left enough unanswered questions to lead readers to believe that something much more sinister is going on. Besides, mass murder isn't Killer Moth's style and his involvement is likely that of a side player.
