Kickstart my art | I dream of Electric Sheep

Electric Sheep Kickstarter Promo Video from Electric Sheep Video on Vimeo.

Patrick Farley is currently raising money on Kickstarter so he can make his webcomic Electric Sheep his full-time gig — “my career, my A-game, my FLOW?” And here’s his three-part plan to do so:

a) Relaunch Electric Sheep.

b) Publish three pages of story every week.

c) Trust that 3000 people will, out of the goodness of their hearts, give me a dollar every month to keep going, forever.

He’s looking to raise $6,000, but interestingly enough, only wants to do it a few dollars at a time. “Finally, one small request: Please don’t pledge more than $25,” he wrote on Kickstarter. “I know this sounds strangely counter-intuitive, but it’s crucial to proving the validity of my ‘Thousand True Fans’ business plan. Three thousand small donations are more desirable than a smaller number of larger donations. Knowing that e-Sheep has three thousand awesome fans who are willing to donate a dollar a month will give me the confidence to climb back out onto this limb once again, this time without fear of crashing through the canopy and being attacked by dinosaurs and giant insects.”

Anyone who donates at least a $1 will receive a limited-edition, signed print commemorating Electric Sheep’s relaunch. Hey, he isn’t asking for much, so if you’ve ever wanted to jump into this Kickstarter thing, here’s an easy and inexpensive place to start

(Hat tip to Brigid for the suggestion!)
