What is the deal with the Masters of the Universe film? Fans of the '80s animated series and toy franchise have been chomping at the bit for more information, and spent much of 2014 without any details. But, a Sony Pictures executive finally revealed on Dec. 24 that Kick-Ass 2 writer Jeff Wadlow has turned in a script.

Here's the tweet as well as the photo of the script from Sony's Senior Vice President of Production DeVon Franklin:

Wadlow follows writers like Alex Litvak and Mik Finch (Predators), Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2) and Terry Rossio (The Lone Ranger), who have all taken passes at the project. Justin M. Lin was attached, but bailed out. In February, there was a supposed shortlist of three names to replace him, but nothing's been announced since then. With the latest script in hand, Sony might finally be able to attract a director and get this project a few steps closer to the big screen.
