Kick-Ass 2 Gets Release Date, Two More Cast Members

Universal Pictures announced this morning that Kick-Ass 2, the sequel to the 2010 superhero comedy based on the comic by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr., will open June 28, 2013.

In addition, Deadline reports two more actors have joined writer/director Jeff Wadlow's film: Morris Chestnut (V, American Horror Story) will play Hit-Girl's stepfather Marcus Williams, while Robert Emms (Mirror Mirror, War Horse) has landed the role of Insect-Man, a police officer turned member of the superhero team Justice Forever.

The two join returning cast members Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Yancy Butler and new additions John Leguizamo and Donald Faison.

Production is set to begin next month on the film, which adapts Millar and Romita's Kick-Ass 2 miniseries as well as the Hit-Girl spinoff. It will be produced by Matthew Vaughn, who's unable to direct because of his commitment to Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past.
