Kevin Williamson to Create 'Time After Time' TV Series for ABC

Kevin Williamson -- the creator of "Dawson's Creek" and writer of mid-'90s horror staples "Scream" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer -- better prepare for a journey across time and space as Deadline reports that the creator will script and executive produce the upcoming ABC television series "Time After Time," based on the 1979 novel by Karl Alexander and not the 1984 song by Cyndi Lauper.

Previously adapted into a cult classic feature film starring Malcolm "Singing in the Rain" McDowell, David "Sark" Warner and Mary "Clayton Ravine" Steenburgen, the book follows prolific and legendary author HG Wells, who creates an actual time machine and must subsequently hunt down Jack the Ripper, who has escaped to the far future of 1979.

ABC bought the upcoming television adaptation from Warner Bros. TV, with whom Williamson was under a deal.
