Actor Kevin Spacey has been formally charged with felony sexual assault.

According to Boston Globe, Spacey is due to be arraigned at Nantucket District Court on a charge of indecent assault and battery on January 7. District Attorney Michael O’Keefe said a public show-cause hearing was held last week, where Clerk Magistrate Ryan Kearney issued a criminal complaint “against Kevin S. Fowler, also known as Kevin Spacey.”

The allegations were brought against Spacey by the son of Heather Unruh, a former Boston WCVB-TV news anchor. The alleged assault took place at a Nantucket bar in July 2016. According to Unruh, Spacey bought alcohol for her underage son until he was drunk, then assaulted him. Her son fled the bar when Spacey used the restroom. He reported the incident to the police in fall 2017, though Unruh discussed the incident with Nantucket’s sheriff shortly after the alleged incident.

“The victim, my son, was a star-struck, straight, 18-year-old young man who had no idea that the famous actor was an alleged sexual predator or that he was about to become his next victim,” Unruh said at a press conference in November 2017. “This was a criminal act.”

Spacey, best known for his roles in films like The Usual Suspects and American Beauty, was removed from his starring role in House of Cards over this sexual assault allegation, among others made by actor Anthony Rapp, Richard Dreyfuss' son Harry and more.
