Kevin Smith’s Supergirl Ep Stars Roulette, Aliens — And His Daughter

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kevin Smith’s “Supergirl” episode for a while now. The director was first attached to a “Supergirl” episode way back in August, and we’ve followed his journey behind the camera over the last few months — from Smith learning the title of his episode to him presenting the cast and crew with a wrap present. Now, after months of waiting, the episode’s arrival is imminent.

Thanks to a new official synopsis released by the CW, we now know what will go on in the Kevin Smith-directed “Supergirl” episode, and it looks to be a big one. The return of Roulette, interplanetary portals, aliens slaves — this episode has it all. The episode even features “Yoga Hosers” star, and Kevin Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

KEVIN SMITH DIRECTS; ROULETTE RETURNS — Kara (Melissa Benoist) is moved by the story of a missing woman named Izzy (guest star Harley Quinn Smith) and decides to investigate despite Snapper Carr’s (guest star Ian Gomez) order to leave it alone. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver’s Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver’s Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara’s disappearance, fearing she’s become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister.

Smith has already talked about how filming the episode filled him with joy, and he commemorated his time with the show by getting a custom hockey jersey. We’ve also seen a clip from the episode, one featuring Mon-El and Kara, and it feels very much in line with a Kevin Smith project.

“Supergirl” returns on January 23. Starring Melissa Benoist as the Girl of Steel, “Supergirl” airs Mondays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars David Harewood as Martian Manhunter, Mehcad Brooks as Jimmy Olsen, Chyler Leigh as Alex Danvers and Jeremy Jordan as Winn Schott and features appearances by Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant as well as Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman.
