"Clerks" director Kevin Smith is fresh off his second directorial stint on "The Flash," but he didn't walk away empty-handed. Before all was said and done, storyboard artist Jeremy Simser presented Smith with a very unique gift: a custom hockey jersey with a frame of action for the jersey crest.

"THIS is an amazing gift from 'The Flash' & 'Supergirl' storyboard maestro Jeremy Simser: a frame of action from the boards of our 'Killer Frost' episode turned into a hockey jersey crest," Smith wrote in a Facebook post. "Oh my God, I love it so much! Such a creative idea that also serves as memento of our time in the trenches together!"

"If you liked the #coldkiss moment, Jeremy was the guy who suggested 'What if we homage that mistletoe moment from 'Batman Returns?' Any action sequence I've done on either 'The Flash' or 'Supergirl' has started on Jeremy's empty storyboard frames. The man's a genius and this storyboard crest is a beyond-genius idea! Thank you, Jeremy!" he added.

"I'll forever wear you all over my neck & chest (which sounds exactly as filthy as I meant it)!" he concluded. He also pointed out the building behind him in the shot, which was featured in "Die Hard."

Smith is no stranger to comic books. "Mallrats," one of his original works, dealt heavily with the subject and even featured a cameo from Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee. He went on to write a "Daredevil" miniseries for Marvel and subsequently appeared in 2003's "Daredevil" film. So far as his history with DC Comics goes, he has written for "Green Arrow," "Batman '66 Meets the Green Hornet" and more. He directed "The Runaway Dinosaur," a fan-beloved episode of "The Flash," in Season 2. In addition to his work on this week's "Killer Frost" episode of "The Flash," he has an upcoming episode of "Supergirl" titled "Supergirl Lives."

If you're wondering why Simser went with a hockey jersey for Smith's gift, the answer is simple: Smith frequently wears hockey jerseys, and he even owns one with "The Flash" logo on it.

Starring Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, "The Flash" airs Tuesdays at 8 pm ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
