If the writer of Kevin Feige's upcoming Star Wars movie has his way, C-3PO will play a role.

Michael Waldron spoke to /Film about this week's premiere of Loki, on which he's the head writer, but the topic soon shifted to Star Wars. Earlier this year, Waldron was announced as the writer of Feige's mysterious Star Wars film, which will see the Marvel Studios head lend his production talents to the galaxy far, far away. When asked what the writer loves from the franchise that he wants to bring to the project, he teased his favorite character.

"Ummm. [laughs] Uhhh, well, I guess that's a good question. I love Star Wars," Waldron said. "There’s not much I can say about that project other than I love Star Wars and I’ll try to bring everything I love about Star Wars into it. I love 3PO. I’ll try and bring my love of 3PO into it."

Back in 2019, news broke that Feige and Lucasfilms president Kathleen Kennedy would be producing a Star Wars film together. Feige has long been a vocal Star Wars fan and has woven that love into the MCU. Since the news, however, little has been revealed about the project save Waldron's involvement and word that Feige is looking at a big actor to lead the project.

While his involvement was confirmed by Disney head Alan Horn, Feige hasn't spoken about the project, instead citing his continued work on building the MCU. "We’re thinking that we’re not — that is, um — everything you’ve heard about that has [been] leaked," Feige said earlier this year. "It’s not stuff that we’ve officially announced or gotten into. So, suffice to say, the focus is on all the number of Marvel things we’re working on. The what, where, when and how of that [Star Wars movie], I don’t know. I’m excited for The Book of Boba Fett, and the Rogue One show, and the Obi-Wan show, and Patty’s movie, and Taika’s movie. [Smiles] After Thor: Love and Thunder, of course."

For now, Feige is working on bringing the MCU back to theaters with Black Widow next month and the continuation of Marvel's hit Disney+ shows with this week's Loki debut. After that, perhaps he can finally turn his attention toward Star Wars.
